2004-05-02 - 5:50 p.m. You know what I didnt know? That the earlier stages of Wicca has been being practiced and taught since before the Roman church inheirited Christianity. That all the "Druids" and "Witches" were killed because the Roman church wanted their new-found religion to dominate. They began silly rumors that Witches performed Satans work, that they were all evil just so that the Christian religion would be prosperous. This was back in the 1400s. Then again in the 1600s: the Salem Witch Trials. You know that King James I started a Law in 1604 that stated that a witch did not have the right to live? It was called the Witchcraft Law, and it all began because the Roman church began such words about "witches" as to make all hate them for their practices. Between 100,000 and 9 million witches (and non-witches Im sure) where killed during the cruciable. That is just crazy. I couldnt believe that when I read it... and the even crazier thing... I cant believe the religion survived it. And now, in 1986 it was finally legal that Wicca is considered a religion and its consitutional rights are protected under the First Amendment. In this day now as well, Wicca is the fastest growing religion in the United States. Crazy huh?
